Mikołajki is a charming town in the heart of Mazury, in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, on the shores of Lake Mikołajskie. Known as the "Masurian Venice" — the lake divides the town in two, creating a unique atmosphere where water is everywhere.

It is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Poland. The famous Great Masurian Lakes Trail passes through the town, linking lakes from Węgorzewo to Pisz across over 100 km of waterways.

The town centre is formed by the picturesque Freedom Square with its distinctive King Sielaw fountain — a fish sculpture referencing the founding legend. Around the square stand buildings from different eras, and nearby runs the historic Michała Kajki Street, the oldest and longest artery in Mikołajki, stretching over 2.5 km along the lakeside.

Required for vessels with engines over 10 kW, or up to 750 W if speed exceeds 15 km/h. From age 14. Authorises navigation on inland waterways.

Mooring

At the Sailing Village in July after 5 pm the marina is full — arrive before noon or book your berth in advance.
Śniardwy — caution!

At wind force 4–5 Bf and above, Śniardwy can be very dangerous — waves are high and short. Check the forecast at meteo.imgw.pl before setting off.
Speed limits

On WJM waters the speed limit is 10 knots (approx. 18 km/h). In marina zones and near beaches — 5 knots.
Channels and locks

Exit the WJM through the Guzianka lock (between Bełdany and Nidzkie). The lock operates May–September; toll collected on site.
Fuel station

Fuel up at the Sailing Village and MIKO Marina. Fuel: 95 petrol for outboard engines. Water-side fuelling.
Cumowanie

Quieter berths in the direction of Lake Śniardwy (away from the bridge).
